This term may be used by public health laboratories to report the species of mosquito in conjunction with the number of mosquitoes in the mosquito pool [LOINC:82464-9] as well as the pathogen(s), if any, that the mosquito is carrying, such as Zika virus [LOINC: 79190-5], West Nile virus [LOINC: 34892-0] or Western Equine encephalitis virus [LOINC: 54036-9].
